Automatic Recirculation Valve (ARV)

Function:

An ARV protects a centrifugal pump by ensuring it always has minimum required flow. When the main discharge flow reduces or stops, the ARV automatically opens the bypass and sends flow back to the tank or pump suction. When normal flow returns, the bypass closes.

Why Needed:
Without minimum flow, pumps can suffer:

  • Overheating
  • Cavitation
  • Seal & bearing failure
  • Damage to impeller and casing
  • The ARV prevents these problems automatically, without sensors or controls.

Used In:

  • Oil & Gas
  • Petrochemical & Chemical plants
  • Power plants (boiler feed pumps)
  • Water treatment & RO systems
  • Refineries, LNG plants, steel mills
